Every piece in Michal Golan's collection is still handmade in her Hell's Kitchen studio and has been for more than 30 years.
NEW YORK, October 24, 2017 (Newswire.com) - New York City-based artist and designer Michal Golan has just opened a new studio store and gallery at 409 West 44th Street. Fans can now shop Golan’s creations in the very same location where they are made. Golan’s ceramic artwork will also be on display and for sale. At the new location, customers will be able to purchase one-of-a-kind items and shop jewelry and artwork not available online. In addition, customers can arrange to meet Golan or view the jewelry studio.
“This new studio store and gallery opening is the next evolution in my work,” says Golan. “It’s exciting to have a location where customers can view my jewelry and ceramic artwork and see the pieces in person. It also lends itself to a more personal experience to be able to meet and greet my customers in the store.”
Born in Israel and making a home in New York City, Golan’s designs are inspired by Byzantine jewelry with its generous use of gemstones and pearls as well as jewelry made during the reign of Queen Victoria. Influences from Middle Eastern art, particularly Mosaic styles, are also apparent in her lavish decoration of surfaces and use of brilliant colors.
Over the years Golan’s jewelry has evolved, but her commitment to handmade and high-quality products has remained. Her aesthetic as an artist is reflected in the mosaic-like quality of her jewelry. Each piece is decorated with semi-precious stones, freshwater pearls, and Swarovski crystals.
