Recent release “Chasing Our Dreams” from Newman Springs Publishing author Barry Tisdell is an engrossing historical fiction novel that introduces Mr. Charles Hampton, a slave owner who gives his slaves an opportunity to be free.

Barry Tisdell has completed his new book “Chasing Our Dreams”: a gripping and potent historical fiction novel that takes place in 1868.

Author Barry Tisdell begins his compelling work, writing, “This is a story of a family who worked for a slave owner in Africa during the late 1800s. Mr. Charles Hampton inherited the farm from his mom and dad, who were English settlers, and during the course of time no longer wanted to buy and sell slaves to work on his farm. With the cruelty he had witnessed over the years, no slave boss eventually made him more compassionate to slaves and their families.”

He continues, “Mr. Hampton kept one family on his farm to look after the place. He was very fond of the Chiqalto family because they were loyal and hardworking people. David and Mytia Chiqalto had two children, and they were homeschooled because Blacks were not allowed to attend school at the time. Their names were Taylor and Bohanna.”

Published by Newman Springs Publishing, Barry Tisdell’s meaningful tale follows Mr. Charles Hampton and the Chiqalto family.
