Recent release ‘The Pen of a Soul’ from Covenant Books author Naoma L. Van Hassel is a beautifully crafted journey of the author’s devotion to the Lord after she accepted Christ as her savior. Drawing on her journals she kept as she documented her discovery of the blessings God grants to His followers, Hassel shares her writings in the hopes of inspiring others to seek out a relationship with God.

Naoma L. Van Hassel, who uses writing as an outlet to help bring her peace, has completed her new book, “The Pen of A Soul”: a stunning personal journey of how the author’s relationship with God allowed her to overcome her past struggles and understand better her role in life.

“Every novice who has ever decided to write a book was probably uncertain how to get started,” writes Van Hassel. “I made the decision not to write a tell-all book, but rather to focus on my journey through life reflected through poetry. This style of expression began at an early age and embodies great depths of melancholy and even pathos yet, at other times, great joy and gladness of heart for life itself. The work expands a lifetime of struggle as a product of childhood poverty and circumstances, which led to emotional poverty as an adult, married woman, and mother. My purpose is to show how God has delivered me out of the past as my Savior and Lord. I still do the wrong things and struggle with thoughts at times. But the difference now is that Christ dwells inside my heart and the little policeman I call my conscience directs me into right and away from wrong. Christ’s shed blood on the cross covered all sins from the past, present, and future, and I have been set free from the penalty of sin, which is death or separation from God forever.”
