Canadian Fashion Designer Launches Handmade Luxury Clothing Line That Gives Back

The debut women’s clothing collection by Jacoba Jane, titled “Liquid and Shade,” will consist of classic silhouettes in luxurious fabrics like silk charmeuse. The line will consist of six styles in six different colours, and each piece is crafted by the designer herself in her studio. Through the collection, the brand aspires to directly empower women in Nicaragua by enabling them to learn a new skill which will allow them to earn a higher income while staying home with their children. 

“My mission is to create clothing that women cannot wait to wear, with special attention to longevity and timeless fabrics and silhouettes. Each piece in the collection has been imagined, researched, planned, and produced in my studio,” said the designer. “I also wanted to take this opportunity to give back to the women of our world, because that is when something truly becomes timeless,”

Liquid and Shade launches May 18th, 2016 at www.jacobajane.com. Anyone who purchases the Sara top will provide a 12 month sewing course to a woman in Leon, Nicaragua that will provide her with a sustainable wage and a valuable skill.
