The official synopsis for The Crowded Room from Apple reads,
The Crowded Room follows ‘Danny Sullivan’ (Holland), a man who is arrested following his involvement in a shooting in New York City in 1979. A captivating thriller told through a series of interviews with curious interrogator ‘Rya Goodwin’ (Amanda Seyfried), Danny’s life story unfolds, revealing elements of the mysterious past that shaped him, and the twists and turns that will lead him to a life-altering revelation.

Holland is joined by an ensemble that features Amanda Seyfried, Emmy Rossum, Sasha Lane, Will Chase, and Lior Raz. The Crowded Room will also feature guest stars Jason Isaacs, Christopher Abbott, Thomas Sadoski, and Zachary Golinger. The show is a co-production between Apple Studios and New Regency. The creator Goldsman also serves as executive producer through his production company, Weed Road Productions. Joining as executive producers are Alexandra Milchan for EMJAG Productions as well as New Regency’s Arnon Milchan, Yariv Milchan, and Michael Schaefer.

The 10-part series is helmed by directors Kornél Mundruczó, Brady Corbet, Mona Fastvold, and Alan Taylor. Holland looks to continue trying to break from the Spider-man image as the Marvel actor has dabbled in dramas before with such projects as The Devil All the Time and Cherry. He also isn’t the only one with connections to the comic book movie world, as the show’s creator Akiva Goldsman is credited with two of the most notorious comic book films among Batman fans, Batman Forever and Batman & Robin. However, Goldsman has also collaborated with Ron Howard for such projects as Cinderella Man and A Beautiful Mind.
